Park Volunteers

Inspired by an internationally successful concept, the volunteer programme in Germany’s large-scale protected areas aims to turn people who donate their time into active partners.
The residents and visitors of national parks, nature parks, and biosphere reserves are invited to get involved with nature conservation and environmental education projects as volunteers.
The goal of the current project phase is to further consolidate volunteer engagement in the parks, as well as in our collaborations with schools and in developing international contacts.

The Erzgebirge/Vogtland Nature Park’s management team is looking for committed citizens who would like to help us with our extensive range of tasks throughout the park. Volunteers can take part in environmental education projects (walks and specialist excursions), help maintain the signage in the nature park, provide support at eco- and nature-focused markets, and join us on accompanying observations, investigations and assessments (data collection on the flora and fauna in the protected areas, collecting and organising research and experimental data, and data archiving) – or support our work with nature conservation institutions and associations in the nature park (nature and environment centres, landscape conservation associations, and similar organisations).
